Receivables Account
A Receivables Account is a dedicated account within Orbital where incoming cryptocurrency payments are collected and managed. When customers send funds through payment links or dedicated wallets, those funds arrive in your Receivables Account before you transfer them elsewhere or convert them to fiat.
What You Can Do with a Receivables Account
Your Receivables Account gives you flexibility in how you collect and manage incoming crypto payments.
- Collect payments via secure links. Generate one-time payment links that customers use to send funds directly to your account. Each link creates a unique wallet address tied to a specific amount and currency. This is ideal for invoices, one-off payments, or situations where you need to collect a known amount from a specific payer.
- Set up dedicated customer wallets. Create persistent wallet addresses assigned to specific customers, partners, or internal stakeholders. Unlike one-time links, these addresses can receive multiple payments over time. Funds are automatically reconciled into your Receivables Account, making it easier to track who sent what.
- Convert incoming funds automatically. Configure your account to exchange received crypto into your preferred target currency. If you receive BTC but want USD, the conversion happens automatically when funds arrive.
- Transfer funds to other destinations. Move funds from your Receivables Account to Treasury Solutions for yield, initiate manual payouts through the Client Portal, or transfer to external wallets.
How Receivables Fits into Orbital
Receivables is one of several account types within Orbital. Understanding where it sits helps you manage your funds effectively.
Your Receivables Account (also called a PMID in some contexts) serves as the entry point for customer payments. From there, funds can flow to other parts of the platform—Treasury Solutions for earning yield, Payables for making outbound payments, or directly to external wallets and bank accounts.
This separation keeps incoming and outgoing funds organized and gives you clear visibility into your payment flows.
Payment Collection Methods
Orbital offers two primary ways to collect payments into your Receivables Account.
Receive-by-Link (RBL)
Receive-by-Link lets you generate secure, one-time payment links for collecting specific amounts. When you create a link, Orbital generates a unique wallet address tied to that payment request.
Best for: Invoices, one-off transactions, or collecting payments where you know the exact amount upfront.
How it works:
- You create a link specifying the amount, currency, and payer details
- The payer receives a link with payment instructions and a QR code
- The payer sends the exact amount to the generated wallet address
- Funds arrive in your Receivables Account
Each link is single-use and expires after a set period. Travel Rule compliance requires you to provide payer details before generating the link.
Note: For recurring or high-volume payment collection, consider using the Orbital API instead of manually creating links.
Dedicated Customer Wallets
Dedicated Customer Wallets provide persistent deposit addresses for ongoing relationships. Instead of creating a new link for every payment, you assign a wallet address to a specific customer or entity.
Best for: Regular customers, partners, or internal transfers where you expect multiple payments over time.
How it works:
- You create a dedicated wallet for a specific customer or entity
- The customer uses that address for all their payments to you
- All incoming funds are automatically attributed to that customer
- Funds are reconciled into your Receivables Account with clear attribution
This approach simplifies reconciliation since you always know the source of incoming funds.
Supported Currencies
Receivables supports a range of cryptocurrencies for incoming payments.
- Cryptocurrencies: BTC, BCH, ETH, and other supported networks
- Stablecoins: USDT, USDC, and other supported stablecoins
You can configure automatic conversion to settle received funds in your preferred fiat currency (USD, GBP, EUR, etc.) or hold them in their original crypto form.
User Permissions
Access to Receivables features depends on your role within Orbital.
- Viewers can see receivables data, track incoming payments, and monitor account balances.
- Creators have the additional ability to generate payment links and set up dedicated wallets.
If you need to create payment links but don't have the right permissions, contact your account administrator to update your role.
